Emotions Through Eyes: A Glimpse Beyond the Surface
Eyes are known as the windows to the soul, revealing emotions without words. My latest artwork captures this idea by showcasing a series of eyes, each expressing a different emotion, set against torn paper to symbolize the layers of feelings we experience.
The Story Behind the Artwork
I wanted to show three main emotions: happiness, sadness, and anger. Each eye is drawn with care to highlight details like the lift of an eyebrow or the shape of the eyes to show these emotions. The bright blue color of the irises draws attention and makes the feelings more vivid.
Symbolism and Composition
The torn paper around the eyes represents how emotions come in raw, fragmented moments. This detail adds texture and makes the eyes stand out even more. The layering of the eyes shows how emotions often mix together—we can feel happy with a touch of sadness or anger that turns into thoughtfulness. Using pencil for the skin and blue for the eyes creates a striking contrast that pulls the viewer in.
Crafting the Details
I used traditional pencil shading for the skin and hyper realistic techniques to make the eyes look lifelike. The blue irises were done with colored pencils to make them stand out. Shadowing on the torn paper adds depth and makes it seem like the eyes are peeking through.
Final Thoughts
This artwork is about our shared emotions—joy, sadness, and anger. Through these eyes, I hope to show that even in silence, our eyes can tell powerful stories. Take a moment to look at each eye and see what they say to you.
